I also think it’s sad that people are indoctrinated to think that the only application of “creativity” is art. The reach of art, like that of math, is mostly confined to the erudite. Do art, theater, dance, and music sometimes change the world? Most definitely. But, business and engineering innovations change the world also.

Anyway, let’s just get a few things straight.

  • Creative does not equal imaginative, artistic, ingenious, inclined to performance, expressive, dramatic, insightful, or impractical.
  • Creative means you make things.
  • Imaginative means you think of new things.
  • Being creative, imaginative, or artistic does not exclude being analytical, logical, or mathematical.

  18. fatbottompurls said: Actually, every good artist is very analytical, of themselves and everything around them. Art is an expression of the world perceived and analyzed by the artist. Or at least it should be if they want to make a statement of some kind.
